FAQ

Q1. How Do I Know What Size To Get?

Average wigs fit heads from 21.5" to 22.5". Ninety-five percent of our customers fall into this range. Your wig should be worn on your natural hairline, approximately four fingers above the eyebrows. The back of the wig should be pulled down to the natural hairline in the back. Wigs have adjustable Velcro and elastic tabs in the back so you can adjust your wig for a secure, comfortable fit. There are also small tabs in the front of the ears that can be adjusted to hold the wig close to the face.

Q2. How Do I Choose A Color?

To easily select a color, buy a color ring prior to choosing your item. Color rings are the best option for frequent wig and hairpiece wearers. They make changing colors convenient and easy. Another option is to view our color chart online. Colors may vary depending on the computer and monitor you are using to view the color chart. To safely choose a color, we highly recommend purchasing a color ring.

Q3. How Can I Wash My Wig?

1. Gently brush the wig thoroughly with a wig brush.

2. Add one tablespoon of wig shampoo to a sink filled with cold water.

3. Immerse wig for one minute and agitate gently. Do not rub.

4. Rinse the wig gently in cold clear water twice or until thoroughly rinsed.

5. Blot the wig gently with a towel. Do not squeeze or wring.

6. Apply conditioning spray very lightly over wig, spraying 10-12 inches from the wig.

7. Allow the wig to air dry on a slender object like a can of hairspray or a shampoo bottle covered with a hand towel. Styrofoam heads may stretch the cap.

8. Do not use a hair dryer. Air dries only. You may gently style the wig with your fingertips.

9. Brush wig only when completely dry. Do not allow the wig to dry in direct sunlight.

Q4. How Can I Style My Wig?

Your wig can be styled by using a wig brush, a wig comb, or your fingertips. Avoid using a brush designed for human hair. These brushes can create excessive tension, over-stretching the hair with abrasive strokes that may damage the hair. The wigs we carry are “shake & wear” and can be styled by simply using a wide tooth comb or your fingertips. The best styling tool is the most inexpensive; a spray bottle of clean, cool water. Lightly spritz your wig with water to remove static electricity and return your wig to its original look. To achieve style variations, liquid wig mousse is an essential styling tool. For curly or wavy styles, just mousse, hand scrunch, and pick the style into curls. On straight styles, mousse and brush lightly.

Q5. How Can I Care For My Wig?

When not in use, always store your wig on a mannequin or wig stand to maintain its shape. Frequency of cleaning will depend on your environment, lifestyle and amount of perspiration. Suggested guidelines for cleaning are after 10 to 14 days of wear. To clean and condition your wig, follow the manufacturer's instructions that come with your wig.

3. Choose a color

4. Make your purchase

Q7. How Can I Measure My Head?

With a tape measure, begin at the front of your hairline and wrap the tape behind your ear to the nape of your neck around to your other ear until the tape meets again at the front of your hairline Average Wig size 95% of the population will fit the average wig size. The comfortable elastic/cloth material stretches and fits head sizes from 21.5”-22.5”.

Q8. Can I Dye Human Hair Extensions?

If you chose to dye your hair extensions, as with your own hair it is best only to dye it a few shades darker or lighter. Completely saturate the hair extensions in the hair dye to ensure an even application and leave for the recommended time. We do not recommend using any bleaching agents on the hair as this may cause damage to the extensions and your own hair.

Q9. Which Should I Choose Synthetic Or Human Hair?

Today's better quality synthetic wigs are virtually indistinguishable from human hair, except to the most practiced eye. Synthetic wigs are easier to care for and lower priced. The monofilament fiber "hair" used to make synthetic wigs has "memory" which means it maintains its wave or curl, texture and volume, requiring minimal upkeep. Synthetic wigs, however, are not designed to accept a permanent wave or color change and can be permanently damaged by the use of curling irons, blow dryers or hot rollers.

Q10. How Many Types Of Human Hair Are Used To Wigs?

There are four basic types of human hair used in wigs: Chinese, Indian, Indonesian and Caucasian (also called European hair). Most human hair wigs are made from Chinese or Indian hair. Caucasian/European is the strongest, most durable human hair for wig making. However, this type of hair is not as readily available and is the most expensive.

Q11. What Are Clip In Hair Extensions?

Clip in hair extensions are wefts of hair with secure clips sewn into the hair tracks. These are fantastic for a quick short term new look. They come as a full head, quick fix pieces or one clip strips for highlights. The extensions can be clipped in and removed in minutes and are virtually undetectable. They are also a great way of checking your look if you are thinking of going for the more permanent glue in extensions.

Q12. Can I Use Heated Products On My Hair Pieces?

In general human hair wigs can withstand heated products but it is advisable not to use heated appliances on synthetic hair. Always check with your supplier. In both cases of human and synthetic hair, we recommend that you treat your hair piece like skin and protect it from extreme weather. For instance, wear a hat when sunbathing or outdoors in heavy rain and wind.

Q13. Can You Explain Different Kinds Of Wigs?

The cap is the base of the wig to which hair is attached. Wigs are available with several different types of caps and the hair of the wig is then attached to the cap using various techniques. Each cap type has its own distinct advantages. On most wigs, hair is attached in "wefts". These are strings of hair doubled over and sewn closely together in long strands. This string is then machine sewn, hand sewn or hand tied horizontally onto the vertical lines of a wig cap.

A standard cap is the most common and most affordable cap design. The layers of hair are machine-sewed onto the cap, which has a closed lace layer at the crown. The hair is pre-designed into a specific style and the crown is often lightly teased or crimped so you cannot see down through to the cap. This type of cap often gives the hair a natural lift at the crown for volume.

A capless wig is very similar to the standard cap design. However, instead of the closed lace layer at the crown, it has vertical lace strips with open spaces between the wefts. The open-wefting in the crown, back, and sides allows for maximum ventilation. This makes the cap lighter weight and cooler than a standard cap.

Monofilament caps are constructed using a thin, breathable nylon or polyester mesh material at the crown that gives the illusion of skin and assumes the wearer's natural scalp color by partially revealing the scalp below. Monofilament caps offer the most natural look as well as styling versatility because each hair is individually hand tied at the crown so the hair can be parted and brushed in any direction. The entire wig may be hand tied, or the wig may have a monofilament crown with wefted sides and back. Monofilament wigs are an especially good choice for those with severe or total hair loss as the cap is soft, unlike cloth material, which can be itchy to those with sensitive scalps.
